We had to put Chaka (one of my cats) to sleep last Friday. She was acting strangely (no appetite, lay on the floor instead of the bed which never happens, etc.) for a few days, and we took her to the vet. According to them, she showed all signs of having rabies besides her complete lack of aggression, so they put her to sleep and sent her off to be examined. The vets are almost completely positive that she didn't have rabies, but we still don't know yet. If it wasn't rabies, there could have been a tumor or something that could have caused the symptoms she showed. If it WAS rabies, the county is probably going to come and take Yodette (my other cat) and Sango (one of my dogs) away and put them to sleep, as well, since their rabies shots aren't up to date. Which will leave us with only our fourteen year old dog, Peaches, who is kind of living on borrowed time, anyhow (golden retrievers usually don't live past ten or eleven years old). So....gah...sad and tense times.
And, oh god, we think Sango knows Chaka's gone, because she's gone into full 'maternal mode'. She has a 'baby' which is actually a pillow or stuffed animal that she'll carry around everywhere and cry if she loses it or it's taken away from her. And she's all over my mom, who seems to have taken it the hardest. And Yodette has nearly attached herself to me, as well! She's sleeping in the chair next to me right now, in fact, and up until a few minutes ago Sango was curled up under the computer desk with her 'baby' (a pillow, at the moment).
BUT I have good news, too!
We bought my plane ticket today~! I'm OFFICIALLY going to Japan, now! And the school just sent off my eligibility certificate yesterday, so hopefully I'm going to be able to go get my Student Visa by the end of the month!
Soooooooo........yeah. Very mixed news. :\
